Quick Start Helps SCC Win

Southern California College raced to a 14-point halftime lead and nearly doubled it as the the host Vanguards defeated Menlo College, 69-42 to win the Southern California College Women’s Basketball Classic championship Monday.
Freshman Kelly Boeke had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Vanguards. Aimee Pina had 10 assists to go with her 12 points and was named the tournament’s most valuable player. In nonconference men’s basketball:
Western Montana 76, Southern California 73--Western Montana’s Jake Gustafson made a three-pointer as time expired to win it. Ty Thorn led Western Montana with 32 points and had 10 rebounds. Rashad Wilson had 16 points and nine rebounds for SCC (4-11).
