Barn Reconstruction May Not Be Possible

THOUSAND OAKS — The poor condition of materials from the historic Dos Vientos barn will probably prevent its reconstruction at the city’s planned Broome Ranch equestrian center, according to city officials.
In a memo to city officials, Mark Towne, director of the Conejo Open-Space Conservancy Agency, said the city instead might use some of the barn’s “better preserved pieces” in new structures at the riding facility.
In addition, Towne said, the city might consider building a smaller replica of the barn. However, he said such a plan might be unduly expensive.
