CAIRO — Iraq executed two military officers during last month’s U.S.-British airstrikes, an Iraqi opposition group said Tuesday.
Col. Kadhem Hussein Jubouri and Group Capt. Amin Mehdi Jubouri were executed by firing squad Dec. 19 at a military camp outside Baghdad, the London-based Center for Human Rights said in a statement faxed to Cairo. The group said its sources inside Iraq did not know the reasons for the executions.
Last month, another Iraqi opposition group, the Iranian-based Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, also said that several senior army officers were executed during the airstrikes.
