Forging Hueneme Revival
Hueneme High used to be a cellar-dweller in the Channel League and among Ventura County football teams. But since Larry Miller returned to his alma mater as football coach five years ago, the Vikings have been on an upswing.
Hueneme this season was champion of the first-year Pacific View League and advanced to the Southern Section Division IV semifinals before losing to San Luis Obispo.
The Vikings finished 7-5-1, but three of their losses were by forfeit for inadvertently using an ineligible player in a reserve role.
The rest of Hueneme’s coaching staff was Tony Pinedo, Dan Dolby Jr., Tiloi Tuitama Sr., Steve Henry, John Doleman, Dave Laut and Laurence Burkley.
