The Laker Girls, who normally would be working on their halftime routines in Los Angeles, instead were banking on various public appearances during the lockout--including one fan’s bar mitzvah several weeks ago. Each Laker Girl has lost thousands of dollars, despite the $75 per hour they get for these special events.
“We’re not like the players,” said the squad’s director, Lisa Estrada. “This has always been part-time work, and most of the girls either go to school or have other jobs.”
