Thanks, William Wilson

Thank you, William Wilson, for your 33 years of art criticism for The Times and for the advancement of art in Southern California (“Critic Wilson Leaves The Times,” by Suzanne Muchnic, Jan. 2).
Your unmatchable ability to describe what you see so that others can visualize it makes your writing indispensable to art explorers in a era where the unexpected (and thus difficult to describe) is a driving force in art. Your willingness to forgo “artspeak” for clarity is an example from which most of your peers and successors could learn.
We young (now mature) collectors followed your leads and our own sensibilities, and learned much about what makes art great in the process. We look forward to your survey of Southern California art.
