Jury’s Out on Whether He’ll Serve

WASHINGTON — Sen. Rick Santorum may have a unique excuse for getting out of jury duty: He’s already serving on a panel. The one trying President Clinton.
Santorum (R-Pa.) recently got a summons from the Allegheny County Common Pleas Court. He had to mail back a response card answering questions about availability for jury duty and other matters.
“I just laughed over the holidays,” he said Friday.
Santorum and 99 other senators were sworn in Thursday to serve as jurors in Clinton’s impeachment trial.
The senator mailed back the response card earlier in the week, although he does not recall when he might have to serve.
“They may call me, though I may be otherwise occupied,” Santorum said. “I’m already doing jury duty someplace else.”
