A 37-year-old man was fatally shot while walking in Pacoima, police said Tuesday.
Roy Padilla of Pacoima was walking in the 13200 block of Filmore Street, approaching Pala Avenue, about 10:55 p.m. Monday when someone came up and shot him with a semiautomatic pistol, said Los Angeles Police Det. Frank Bishop of the Foothill Division.
Padilla, shot once in the upper torso, died at the scene, Bishop said.
Witnesses told police that they saw a man leave after the shooting. They described him as African American, about 25, 6 feet tall, weighing 180 to 190 pounds, with short black hair. He was wearing dark clothing, Bishop said.
“We believe he may be a suspect,” he said. The man got into a black 1995 or 1996 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a second person, according to Bishop. Police have no description of the driver.
