CHARLOTTE, N.C. — No. 3-ranked Cincinnati was knocked from the undefeated ranks Thursday night when Diego Guevara scored all 12 of his points in the final 10 minutes to lead North Carolina Charlotte to a 62-60 Conference USA victory.
Guevara, listed as doubtful because of a severely sprained left ankle, missed his first eight shots before making four of his last six. His three-point basket with 2:25 left put Charlotte, 10-6 overall and 2-2 in Conference USA, ahead to stay at 61-58.
Cincinnati’s Kenyon Martin, a 52% free throw shooter, missed the front end of a one-and-one with 3.2 seconds left and the Bearcats, while getting the rebound, were unable to get off a shot as time expired.
The loss by Cincinnati (15-1, 4-1) left No. 1 Connecticut (14-0) and No. 8 Auburn (16-0) as the only undefeated teams in Division I.
