Idaho 77, Cal State Fullerton 62--The visiting Titans’ Mark Murphy sank a three-point basket to cut the Vandals’ lead to 66-60 with 3:25 left. The Titans didn’t score again until Murphy’s layup with 46 seconds left.
Fullerton (7-6, 1-2) lost this Big West meeting at Moscow, Idaho, in almost every category.
The Titans had only three assists and shot 40%. The Vandals shot 51%.
They were outrebounded, 43-32. Idaho’s Kevin Byrne had 12 rebounds, eight above his average.
They made nine of 24 free throws.
The Vandals (6-7, 2-2) held Fullerton scoreless the first four minutes and led, 19-6, with 12 minutes left in the half. But Matt Caldwell led a 21-5 run that gave the Titans a 27-24 lead with 4:25 left. They didn’t score another field goal until Ike Harmon’s dunk with 18:39 left in the game. By then, Idaho had a 42-32 lead.
Avery Curry led the Vandals with 18 points.
Harmon scored 15 and Jason Cunningham had 14 for Fullerton.
