Watts Choir to Present Annual Image Awards

WATTS — The Inner-City Mass Choir of Watts will honor public figures and performers today during festivities in remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr.
U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Los Angeles), County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke and singer Patti LaBelle are among those who were chosen as role models by local youths and will be given Community Image Awards at the seventh annual ceremonies, said Roberta Rockett, the mass choir’s secretary.
The black-tie event, whose theme is “Living the Dream,” is open to the public and will be held at 6 p.m. at the Grant African Methodist Episcopal Church, 10435 S. Central Ave. Information: (213) 387-9392.
