Trojans Don’t Need a New Coach, Do They?
After watching Rick Neuheisel and Dennis Erickson get hired as the new coaches of Washington and Oregon State, respectively, I’ve come to the conclusion that Paul Hackett should leave for the NFL so USC can bring in the kind of coach who can compete with those guys. Here’s a list of potential prospects who surely have the capability to restore SC to its glory days:
1. Jimmy Johnson: Would do wonders for the running game.
2. Terry Donahue: Hey, Mike Garrett was willing to hire Lou Holtz last year, so why not?
3. Terry Bowden: He’s a Bowden! How can you go wrong with a Bowden?
Of course, we could also take the lead from Washington and Oregon State and overpay for a coach who did nothing but win with his predecessors’ talent (Neuheisel), or get a coach who cheated to win two national championships (Erickson).
On second thought, I think USC should be just fine with Hackett next year.
