Octuplet Treated for Infection

One of the seven surviving Houston octuplets has developed an infection, and one of his sisters was tested for the same problem. Both Ikem Louis, who has the infection, and his sister Gorom have stopped breast-milk feedings and are on antibiotic treatment, said Dr. Carol Lynn Berseth. The two are among eight babies born last month to Nkem Chukwu and husband Iyke Louis Udobi. The other five siblings continue to receive breast milk and remain in critical but stable condition at Texas Children’s Hospital, Berseth said. One octuplet, a girl named Odera, died a week after birth.
