GOP Leaders

Your map (Jan. 7) showing the home base of the top six Republican leaders of the new Congress illustrates a dangerous situation for our national democracy. Five of the six are from Southern states, if we include Oklahoma. Most of the Caucasian voters in those states are ultraconservative and, compared to Californians, are relatively narrow-minded. Since none of those five Republicans is going to run for national office, they really do not care what the rest of us think.
