‘20 Hundred’

* Regarding the year 2000: Instead of “two thousand,” shouldn’t we be pronouncing it “twenty hundred,” as we do for 1900 and 1800? And by extension, subsequent years would be pronounced “twenty-oh-one” (2001) and “twenty-five twenty-five” (2525). After all, nobody I know says “one thousand, nine hundred ninety-nine” for 1999.
