The city is putting out the call for volunteers to deliver meals to housebound senior citizens. Volunteers must have their own cars and be able to work from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. once a week or more.
Seniors who are more mobile can come for meals at the Youth Center, 10909 Oak St., after making a reservation two days in advance. Meals and other support services are offered free to people 60 years and older.
To volunteer for driving, call Gail Silva at (562) 430-1073, Ext. 520. To make a meal reservation, call the city’s Recreation & Community Services Department at (562) 430-1073.
