LA PALMA

The city has received more than $1 million in extra sales tax revenue the last two years thanks to just one business that moved here in 1997, City Manager Daniel E. Keen reported at Tuesday’s council meeting. Keen couldn’t release the name of the business due to state law but said it follows an unusual accounting practice that causes it to declare its income in La Palma.
Because the revenue is dependent on one business, the City Council agreed with Keen’s recommendation to put it in a special fund for infrastructure projects, rather than counting on it year after year to help run the city.
