Rafael Berumen

Year: Senior
Sport: Basketball
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Berumen has been a force for the Pioneers, ranked No. 1 in the region by The Times. The 6-foot-9 center, who signed early with New Mexico, leads the team with averages of 23.6 points and 11.4 rebounds, dominating the low post in nearly every game.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Berumen scored 27 points against Moorpark, 34 against Royal and 32 against Sylmar in the Pioneers’ three victories last week. Against Sylmar, he grabbed 17 rebounds and demonstrated his impressive passing skills with five assists.
GIRLS’
Imani Dorsey
School: Harvard-Westlake
Year: Junior
Sport: Soccer
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Dorsey has developed into one of the region’s top defenders and a college prospect. Four of her five goals have come on head shots and three of those won games for the Wolverines, ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Dorsey scored two goals and anchored the region’s best defense in Mission League shutouts over Chaminade and Notre Dame. She has helped Harvard-Westlake to five consecutive shutouts and nine this season.
