COLLEGE BASKETBALL / SOUTHLAND ROUNDUP

Loyola Marymount 89, San Diego 73--Although Haywood Eaddy doesn’t consider himself 100% recovered from an ankle injury he sustained early in the season, the senior guard led the Lions to a West Coast Conference victory in front of 1,627 at San Diego.
Eaddy finished with 22 points, his third consecutive game with more than 20 points. He also finished with five three-point baskets, a season high. All this against the best defense in the WCC.
Defensive rebounding by San Diego (12-5, 3-2) and an early Loyola (8-9, 3-2) scoring drought gave the Toreros an early lead of 10 points. But the Lions started to turn the ball over and trailed at halftime, 39-38.
Lion sophomore forward Elton Mashack also finished with 22 points, and senior guard Willie Allen had a team-high six assists.
The Lions have won three in a row.
