Jesse Jackson Opens Southern Voter Push

Vowing to register 2 million new voters, the Rev. Jesse Jackson began a Southern registration drive at the site of Martin Luther King Jr.’s death. Jackson’s Rainbow/PUSH Coalition expects to meet the mark by April 4, the 31st anniversary of King’s assassination in Memphis, Tenn. Jackson said he will swing through all Southern states and encourage voters to elect candidates who support equal opportunity and economic justice.
