The next step in the revitalization of the downtown area occurs Feb. 5, when Edwards Cinemas holds the grand opening for a 10-theater complex. The opening of the $10-million complex at South Brea Boulevard and East Birch Street caps seven months of construction. The theaters are an addition to a 12-theater complex; together, they will be named Edwards Brea Stadium 22 Cinemas.
The city approved construction of the theaters in the redevelopment area on the theory that theaters often draw large crowds to downtown areas.
