Brett Hull and Mike Modano came through when needed by the Dallas Stars.
Hull scored a goal in his fourth consecutive game and Modano extended his point streak to a season-high seven games as the Stars defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning, 4-1, Friday night at Tampa, Fla.
“I’ve never seen a team so unselfish. . . . We don’t care who scores and we don’t care who gets the ice time,” Hull said.
Modano and Hull scored second-period goals as Dallas rebounded from a 1-0 deficit. Sergei Zubov and Derian Hatcher added third-period goals.
Lightning goaltender Bill Ranford and defenseman Petr Svoboda left the game because of injuries. Ranford suffered cervical spasms when he and Dallas’ Guy Carbonneau collided. Svoboda suffered a pulled groin.
New York Islanders 4, Phoenix 4--Zdeno Chara and Robert Reichel scored goals 2:04 apart late in the third period to give the Islanders a come-from-behind tie at Uniondale, N.Y.
With the Islanders trailing, 4-2, Chara scored his first NHL goal at 16:14 on a wrist shot from the right point. Reichel tied the score at 18:18 on a blast from the far-left circle.
