Reed Lifts Lynx Over Miracle

Brandy Reed’s steal and layup with 19 seconds remaining helped lift the Minnesota Lynx over the Orlando Miracle, 71-66, before 7,229 Wednesday night at Orlando, Fla.
The Lynx (6-5) scored the final eight points.
Nykesha Sales made a three-point basket to give Orlando a 66-63 lead but the Miracle (5-5) turned the ball over on its next two possessions.
Katie Smith made four consecutive free throws to seal the victory. Sheri Sam’s three-point attempt that could have tied the game with 2.8 seconds missed badly.
Tonya Edwards scored 22 points, including five three-point baskets, for the Lynx before fouling out with 2:54 remaining. Reed added 19 points and Smith scored 15 of her 17 in the second half.
Charlotte 75, Cleveland 62--Dawn Staley made a club-record five three-point baskets and finished with 22 points and five assists for the Sting in front of 4,760 at Charlotte, N.C.
The Sting, which made a franchise-record nine of 13 three-point attempts, also got 13 points and eight rebounds from Vicky Bullett.
