Don’t Forget the Dangers Amid Hype Over Pipes

As a former cigarette smoker who now enjoys the occasional pipe, I enjoyed your recent article (“A Nice Vice,” June 29). However, I found your dismissive and minimal mention of the potential dangers of smoking tobacco in a pipe careless. Pipe smoking can be a wonderful pastime, but tobacco is still tobacco. As one who has seen the debilitating cancers of the mouth in other pipe smokers, I hope that the popularity of pipe smoking decreases and not increases.
