Historic Sites Series to Offer 26 Concerts
- Share via
Eight series and a total of 26 concerts make up the 1999-2000 season of Chamber Music in Historic Sites, the concert series sponsored by the Da Camera Society of Mount St. Mary’s College. During the upcoming season, concerts will again match program and place, from music of the Roman Renaissance played in a church inspired by Roman landmarks to an Appalachian string band at a country chapel built in Hollywood by a Tennessee circuit preacher.
Ten ensembles will make their local debuts. They include the Wihan, Artemis, Magellan, Schidlof and Amati string quartets, and the Gryphon and Altenberg piano trios. Among the others are the American String Quartet, with guest violist Michael Tree; the Haydn Trio Vienna; Jamaican jazz pianist Monty Alexander; and the early music ensemble Sequentia.
