Sale of ‘Positive’ News Stories Killed

A Fox television affiliate in Chattanooga, Tenn., has hurriedly rescinded an offer to local businesses to produce three “positive” news stories about them in exchange for $15,000. The advertising sales staff at WDSI in Chattanooga had told businesses that the stories would be broadcast on the station’s news programs. An executive who oversees the station blamed a rogue salesperson for the offer, which was taken off the table before any sales were made.
