The City Council unanimously approved the final design contract recently for a commuter rail station. In doing so, council members also accepted a $135,000 increase in the design contract awarded to Boyle Engineering Corp. The increase covers unanticipated expenses and is within the original project budget. The proposed Metrolink station, a partnership with Laguna Niguel, is part of an effort to expand public transportation to south Orange County residents. It is planned for the northeast corner of the city, on Forbes Road.
