The Moon Mission and JFK
On Tuesday, we will mark 30 years since the successful Apollo 11 lunar landing and humankind’s first walk on another celestial sphere. It was an incredible achievement, one of the greatest of all time.
From the beginning of the endeavor to the moment of splashdown in the Pacific Ocean, nothing was certain. The manned space program that included projects Mercury, Gemini and Apollo was an incredible challenge. Not just from an engineering perspective; it was a challenge to the human spirit, the human soul.
Let’s not forget the man who challenged America to that incredible venture: President John F. Kennedy. He was a man with incredible vision, and a heart to match. Let’s not forget his death and the fact that we still don’t know all the facts surrounding the events of Nov. 22, 1963, in Dallas.
