Re “L.A.’s NFL Plan: Win-Win,” editorial, July 11: Who wins? Surely not the people who live in greater Los Angeles County. Surely not the people who live in other parts of California.
The NFL idea is a bad one. Give it up. The people of Greater Los Angeles do not need a football team to give them an identity like some smaller and more insecure area. What do we have to prove? That we have a football team? Wow!
I have been involved in football since the early 1950s. As a player, coach and spectator of hundreds of football games, one would think that I would be all for NFL football returning to L.A. I have no respect for the NFL or the players within it. I have no respect for professional sports. Period. They have corrupted their various games to a point of no return. We don’t need to add to the list of losing professional teams here by adding one more.
Let’s put this up for a vote by all of the people of Los Angeles County. You and your downtown business interests should not have a problem with that.
