Apology

Re “Group on Crusade to Say Sorry--900 Years Later,” July 19:

At last a noble gesture long overdue. As a Catholic it has been on my mind for years that some sort of apology was needed for the Crusades, the Inquisition and the failure of our church to speak out against war and discrimination. The reconciliation walk pilgrimage is 900 years late but a beginning.

As a church we should examine our collective conscience, beat our breast, ask forgiveness and live like real Christians. Jesus said that if they would not listen, “shake the dust from your feet,” not wipe the blood from your hands.
