Capistrano Unified School District Supt. James A. Fleming was recently awarded a Leadership in Learning award from the American Assn. of School Administrators. The award, presented at a ceremony in New Orleans, is handed out to three people nationwide.
Fleming was instrumental in launching a literacy and reading program in Capistrano Unified schools in 1996. In addition to Fleming’s award, the district received a $4,000 grant toward future school programs, officials said.
