Regarding the need for state funding to keep the good work of the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy going (“Conservancy Is Strapped for Funds,” Feb. 21), I say to our state Legislature and the governor: Do whatever it takes! To the quoted woman who says we don’t “need” the conservancy I say, speak for yourself.
The wildlife needs the tens of thousands of acres preserved as habitat and wildlife corridor. My family and I need the beautiful parkland that is our respite and source of peace and beauty and makes life in the city bearable--places like Solstice and Temescal, Wilacre and Towsley Canyon. Lastly, my class of third-graders from Inglewood needs places and experiences like the one it enjoyed at the environmental education camp in Temescal Canyon brought to us by the conservancy.
