In another second-round women’s game:
Santa Ana 66, Canyons 55--The No. 8-seeded Cougars couldn’t get their offense untracked against No. 9-seeded Santa Ana (22-9) at Canyons.
Kameelah Purdom scored 17 points and Tasha Allen added 14 for Canyons (20-10), which trailed by one point at halftime.
BASEBALL
UC Santa Barbara 7, CS Northridge 3--Despite a two-run home run by Tom Morefield in the seventh inning, the Matadors (11-13) couldn’t erase a 5-0 deficit after 6 1/2 innings in a nonconference game at Northridge.
Glendale 6, Ventura 5--Matt Hellman had three hits, including a home run, and scored four runs for the Vaqueros (7-10) in a Western State Conference victory at Stengel Field.
Moorpark 4, Pierce 3--Zach Gordon hit a three-run home run in a four-run eighth inning for the Raiders in a WSC victory at Moorpark.
Jeremy Holiday (1-0) pitched a five-hitter with five strikeouts for Moorpark (12-8).
Oxnard 14, Valley 10--Tony Ortega’s double drove in Rigo Garcia with the go-ahead run in a four-run 10th inning for the Condors (7-5) in a WSC victory at Valley.
Ed Jung’s three-run home run tied the game for Valley (5-10) in the bottom of the ninth.
