Concordia Men Advance to Tournament Semifinals

Concordia advanced to the semifinals of the Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament with a 76-74 victory over Fresno Pacific Wednesday in Fresno.
The Eagles (18-15) opened a 42-32 halftime lead and held off a late rally by Fresno Pacific (15-17). Josh Giles scored 23 points to lead Concordia and Harald Hofmann had 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Geoff Jones led Fresno Pacific with 27 points.
Fifth-seeded Concordia meets third-seeded Biola at 5 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals at Whittier College. No. 2 Westmont plays No. 8 Point Loma Nazarene in the other semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Point Loma Nazarene upset top-seeded Azusa Pacific, 78-77, in another quarterfinal Wednesday.
In another tournament game:
Biola 65, Southern California College 63--It was a close game from the start, but SCC couldn’t hold on. Dennis Keane had 18 points and Rashad Wilson had 14 for SCC, which finished the season at 11-23. Jack Hartman had 25 points for Biola (28-6).
In a nonconference baseball game:
Chapman 10, UC San Diego 2--Ryan Ralph had three hits and drove in three runs for Chapman (10-0). Ralph’s two-run single highlighted a four-run inning that gave the Panthers a six-run lead.
Adam Olow and Domonek Prince also had three hits each for the Panthers, who led 10-0 before giving up two runs in the top of the ninth.
