Littlerock Rolls Over Hart in Four Games

Chris Gorny had 27 kills and Littlerock High defeated Hart, 9-15, 15-6, 15-10, 15-12 in a nonleague boys’ volleyball match Thursday at Littlerock.
Gorny, who has signed with Brigham Young, had 11 blocks for Littlerock. He had 12 kills in the third game as Littlerock took a 2-1 lead in games.
Jacob Diem had 41 assists for Littlerock.
Taft def. L.A. Marshall, 15-2, 15-13, 15-8--Mike Gledhill had 13 kills for the Toreadors in a nonconference match at Taft.
Anthony Sharp had nine kills for the Toreadors, runners-up in the City Section 4-A Division playoffs last year.
Highland def. Saugus, 15-2, 15-11, 15-13--Rick Haight had 13 kills and Trent Sorensen had 13 digs to help the Bulldogs win a nonleague match at Saugus.
Van Nuys def. Eagle Rock, 15-1, 15-4, 18-16--Junho Kim had 13 kills and the Wolves beat the Eagles in a nonconference match at Eagle Rock.
SOFTBALL
North Hollywood 14, Palisades 7--Tashean Thomas hit three triples and drove in four runs in a nonconference game at North Hollywood.
Claudia Andrade had a double and an RBI for North Hollywood.
Kennedy 8, Poly 1--Cynthia Barraza’s two-run triple highlighted a six-run sixth inning in a nonconference game at Brand Park in Mission Hills.
Marlene Aguirre and Briana Mathiesen each had three hits for Kennedy (2-0).
Patty Del Real (2-0) of Kennedy had three RBIs and struck out eight batters.
Taft 26, Van Nuys 13--Sarah Cartee had five hits and five RBIs for the Toreadors in a nonconference game at Van Nuys.
Cara Bounds added two hits and six RBIs for Taft (1-0).
Elizabeth Clements had four hits and three RBIs for Van Nuys (0-1).
BOYS’ TENNIS
San Fernando 5, Fremont 2--Sergio Gonzalez outlasted Michael Lopez, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, in a two-hour match to help the Tigers win the nonconference match at El Cariso Park in Sylmar.
Harvard--Westlake 10, Peninsula 8--Andrew Rosenfeld swept three matches and the Wolverines (2-0) won a nonleague match at Harvard-Westlake.
BOYS’ TRACK
Notre Dame 113, Westlake 14--Junior Travis Johnson of Notre Dame put the shot 56-3 in the nonleague meet at Westlake to break the school record of 53-11 1/2 set by Mel Quevedo in 1968. Johnson had a best of 50-4 1/2 last year.
