El Al Offers Money Exchanges in Midair

Passengers on some El Al flights can change their currency on board the plane in what the Israeli airline calls an industry first. The “Fly & Change” program, begun in January, is on flights departing from Tel Aviv for Paris; London; Frankfurt, Germany; and Zurich, Switzerland. A spokesman said the airline hopes to extend the program to all its flights, including those originating in the U.S., by the end of the year. The airline does not charge commission fees and says its rates are comparable to those at airport banks--”not the lowest rate you can get,” the spokesman acknowledged.
