Michael McCrary, the retired police chief and assistant city manager of Signal Hill, will step in as the city’s interim police chief on March 15. He will replace Police Chief Michael J. Skogh, who is leaving Friday for a job as chief of Gardena’s Police Department. City Manager Robert Dominguez said that McCrary, a Seal Beach resident, consults for elected officials and city executives and is well-respected in the law enforcement field. “We feel comfortable in appointing him,” Dominguez said. The City Council is expected to formally approve the appointment March 22.
