1998 IN REVIEW

Three of the four county teams playing for Southern Section titles were victorious, including the top two ranked teams.

Top-ranked Mater Dei broke open a close game with a three-run sixth inning and defeated Chino Hills Ayala, 4-1, in the Division I final. No. 2 Pacifica knocked off Glendora St. Lucy’s, 1-0, in Division III, behind Amanda Freed’s four-hit pitching.

Calvary Chapel defeated Orange Lutheran, 1-0, in Division V, and Rosary lost to Corona Santiago, 2-0, in Division IV.
