A Ventura man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after leading police on a high-speed chase through the city, authorities said.
Josh Lancaster, 24, was arrested on suspicion of felony evading arrest, possession of a controlled substance for sale and hit-and-run driving. He is being held in County Jail on $100,000 bail.
Police attempted to stop a vehicle about 12:30 p.m. for a vehicle code violation at Telephone Road and Petit Avenue, officials said.
The driver fled and hit a parked car during a chase that reached speeds of up to 90 mph, police said.
Police saw the driver throw a paper bag out of the car. The bag allegedly contained two ounces of methamphetamines, with an estimated street value of $5,000, police said.
The driver escaped but Ventura County sheriff’s K-9 officers found him 30 minutes later hiding in a house in the 2400 block of Warbler Avenue in the Montalvo area.
