Prosecutorial Misconduct

The numerous shocking examples of prosecutorial misconduct in Herman Schwartz’s March 7 Opinion piece made me wonder where all of those pontificating congressmen who blathered on about the rule of law during the impeachment proceedings are when miscarriages of justice occur in their own home districts. It also makes me wonder when (if ever) we’ll see any results of the investigation of “24 serious and repetitive” leaks by Ken Starr and his staff. And, as long as we’re at it, what about that Maryland investigation of Linda Tripp’s wiretapping? Just how much investigation can that take?
Seems like the real bad men (and women) never get punished; they get awards, seemingly unlimited budgets and new government jobs.

The revelations about prosecutorial misconduct described in your article, although not new, are most disturbing. They are dangerously close to KGB and Gestapo tactics which I experienced personally as a teenager. It’s time for our courts and/or legislators to rein in overzealous prosecutors who violate citizens’ rights with impunity by imposing sanctions on them.
