Leo Rosales struck out 10 and hit two home runs, helping Reseda High to a 9-2 victory over L.A. Marshall in the championship game of the Los Angeles Umpires Assn. baseball tournament Wednesday at Reseda.
Rosales (4-0) pitched a four-hitter and walked four. His sixth-inning grand slam gave the Regents (6-0) a 5-2 lead, after his third-inning home run tied the score, 1-1.
The Barristers are 3-2.
Granada Hills 6, Lancaster 0--Kameron Lowe (2-0) pitched a four-hitter and struck out eight, using only 73 pitches in the San Fernando Valley tournament at Granada Hills.
Jon Bringuier’s two-run homer highlighted a six-run sixth inning for the Highlanders (3-0).
Lancaster is 1-2.
Huntington Park 2, St. Francis 0--Danny Fannon’s double in the fourth inning broke up Jorge Mungia’s bid for a no-hitter and the Lancers had only one other hit in a San Fernando Valley tournament loss at Huntington Park (2-1).
Ryan Brown singled for St. Francis (0-3) in the fifth inning.
Errol Simonnitch pitched four scoreless innings for St. Francis in relief of Patrick Weisenberg (0-1), allowing three hits and striking out four.
Chaminade 9, Kennedy 5--Johnathan Higashi hit a three-run home run in the fourth for the Eagles in a San Fernando Valley tournament victory at Kennedy.
Higashi has three home runs in his last three games for Chaminade (3-0).
Jimmy Milkovich had four hits, including a two-run home run for the Eagles.
Campbell Hall 8, Don Bosco 4--Michael Frost pitched a four-hitter, allowing no earned runs, and had eight strikeouts for the Vikings (2-0) in a nonleague game at Don Bosco.
The game was called after six innings because of darkness.
Grace Brethren 3, Santa Clara 2--Tim Thompson singled home the winning run for the Hawks (1-0) in a nonleague game at Santa Clara.
Greg Reynolds’ second double drove in the tying run before he scored on Thompson’s single.
Long Beach Millikan 12, Agoura 2--David Johnson had a two-run triple in the fourth, but the Chargers lost in the quarterfinals of the El Segundo tournament.
The make-up game was called in the middle of the fifth because of the 10-run mercy rule.
Agoura (2-1) allowed 10 walks and will play Royal today for fifth place.
Long Beach Millikan is 3-0.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Van Nuys def. Sherman Oaks CES, 15-1, 15-1, 15-5--Wylie Chung had 11 kills and David Chae had 32 assists for the Wolves (2-0) in a nonconference victory at Van Nuys.
Sherman Oaks CES is 0-2.
Glendale Adventist def. San Fernando Valley Academy, 15-1, 15-2, 15-1--Royce Young had six of his 14 kills in the second game for host Glendale Adventist (4-0) in a nonleague match.
San Fernando Valley is 0-4.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Hart 11, Campbell Hall 7--Freshman Jesse Ferlianto swept three opponents, losing only two games for the Indians in a nonleague victory at Hart.
Harvard-Westlake 15, Alemany 3--Steven Gersh did not lose a game at No. 3 singles and Chris Shepherd dropped only game one at No. 1 singles for the Wolverines (5-0, 2-0) in a Mission League match at Studio City Golf and Tennis.
HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL
Thousand Oaks 1-2, Rio Mesa 0-0--Lacey Cope hit her first home run of the season in the second game of a doubleheader for the Lancers at Rio Mesa.
In the first game, Michelle Spencer singled home the winning run in the third inning.
Nicole Angelo (2-0) had seven strikeouts for Thousand Oaks (4-0) in the first game.
San Fernando 13, Franklin 2--Michelle Riagoza hit a two-run double in the fourth inning for the Tigers in a nonconference victory at San Fernando.
Riagoza had four strikeouts in three innings of relief for San Fernando (3-0).
HIGH SCHOOL GOLF
Nordhoff 382, Moorpark 435--Shawn Andrews had six birdies and shot two-under-par 69 for the Rangers (3-1) in a nonleague victory at Elkins Ranch Golf Course in Fillmore.
Moorpark is 2-5.
Burbank 207, Crescenta Valley 209--Johnathan Taylor had two birdies and shot two-over-par 38 for Burbank (1-3).
Crescenta Valley is 3-2.
Canyon 333, Burroughs 364--Mike Vahoviak shot one-over-par 62 but the Indians lost a nonleague match at Vista Valencia Golf Course.
Brett Brunsell fired a 64 and Darren Garrison shot 65 for Canyon, which had all five scorers break 70.
Kevin Krose toured the course in 65 strokes for Burroughs (1-3).
