Oracle Earnings Meet Estimates
Oracle Corp. reported earnings for its fiscal third quarter that were in line with estimates, but the No. 1 database software maker’s revenue growth disappointed some analysts. Oracle posted net income of $293.3 million, or 20 cents a share, a penny above forecasts and up from $215.1 million, or 14 cents, a year earlier. Revenue rose 19% to $2.1 billion. Software sales rose 7% to $825.8 million, making up 40% of total revenue. Database sales rose 10%. Sales of applications software sales grew 5.5%, much less than the 20% to 25% jump analysts expected. The results reflect a 3-for-2 stock split March 1.
