The Irvine Teachers Assn. has announced the following three Irvine Unified School District teachers as the district’s teachers of the year: Gigi Steel, a third-grade teacher at Alderwood Basics Plus School; Laura Bokesch, a media specialist at South Lake Middle School; and Kristine Arnds, an English teacher at University High School. The trio will be honored at the annual Excellence in Teaching dinner to be held at the Irvine Marriott hotel on May 6. Reservations: (949) 651-1004.
