Inch of Rain Forecast Over the Weekend

A storm headed Ventura County’s way will slow over the area tonight and could dump up to an inch of rain in the coastal and valley areas, with even more rain expected in the mountains.
A storm Monday brought about half an inch of rain to most parts of the county.
This weekend’s storm will be similar, said National Weather Service specialist Stuart Seto. The storm is the result of an upper-level, low-pressure system moving south and east from the Gulf of Alaska.
“It’s a slow mover,” he said. “That makes a big difference.”
Monday’s storm “slowed down and kind of stalled, and that’s why we had some good rain amounts,” Seto said.
There is a 20% chance of rain this afternoon and a 70% chance of rain tonight through Saturday afternoon, when precipitation is expected to taper off.
The county could see showers Sunday, which should be partly cloudy and breezy.
Today’s high will be in the low to mid-60s. Saturday will be cooler, with a predicted high of 58. Overnight temperatures both days will hover around 50 degrees.
Snow levels will remain high, with powder occurring at about 5,000 feet tonight and 4,000 feet Saturday. Southeast winds in the mountains could gust to 35 mph, Seto said.
