At Annual Fund-Raiser, Be Sure to Tip the Cops

The Los Angeles Police Department is used to being at residents’ beck and call, but this week, the servitude will be a little different. More bread, anyone?
Members of the LAPD’s West Valley Division will dish up seafood at the Red Lobster restaurant on Vanowen Avenue in Canoga Park on Tuesday and Wednesday to help raise money for the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Officers will serve as celebrity waiters of sorts from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and again from 5 to 9 p.m. both days, collecting “tips” to help child and adult athletes with mental disabilities.
The event is part of “Cops and Lobsters,” an annual fund-raising event organized by the restaurant chain with law enforcement agencies in the United States and Canada. Last year, the event raised more than $740,000 for Special Olympics--including $14,000 at the Canoga Park Red Lobster, the most of any location in the nation.
For more information, call the Canoga Park Red Lobster at (818) 713-9297.
