ROSE VALLEY — A team of more than 20 deputies scoured the hills of Rose Valley this weekend in search of a despondent 40-year-old Ventura man who has been missing for nine days, police said.
The search started Saturday after Fernando Miranda Jr.’s Mitsubishi Eclipse was found Friday night at the end of Rose Valley Road between Ojai and Lockwood Valley, authorities said.
The search was halted at 5 p.m. Sunday, Ventura Police Lt. Bill Bogner said.
“It was called off until we have additional information regarding his possible whereabouts,” Bogner said.
Miranda’s parents filed a missing-person report with Ventura police on March 12 after they received a letter in the mail from their son indicating he no longer wanted to live.
The Sheriff’s Department search-and-rescue team conducted the search by ground and air.
