The Prizes and the Voters

The Newport Beach International Film Festival is a juried competition. The festival jury will give prizes in nine categories at a ceremony and festival tribute to be held April 1 at Buzz Restaurant and Bar in Newport Beach.
The Grand Jury Award: The festival’s top prize, given to the best film as decided by the jury.
The Audience Award: Selected through audience participation and balloting.
The Maverick Award: Recognizes a noteworthy filmmaker, industry innovator or the best use of film on a budget. There can be more than one award.
The Documentary Award and Student Film Award: Both selected by the jury.
The Director’s Award: The best director selected by the jury.
The Short Film Award: Presented by the editors of the Short Cinema Journal.
The Marketing Award: Recognizing filmmakers whose innovative marketing and promotion efforts have created a noteworthy festival buzz.
The Executive Director’s Choice: Festival executive director Jeffrey S. Conner’s choice for outstanding feature or short film.
