Balloon Flight

* How incredibly invigorating to read about Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones finally achieving the goal of circling the globe in a balloon (March 21). This monumental success of human grit and determination versus the unpredictable elements of nature is the kind of story that can inspire anyone in any endeavor. Just as uplifting were the sincere congratulations offered by others, such as Richard Branson and Steve Fossett, who had also tried to achieve this goal.
Although stories of this magnitude don’t occur very often, it’s nice to see The Times highlight positive news on the front page. It felt good to see human triumph without any “losers.”
