VILLA PARK

A group of residents struggling to save the city’s only historical site will offer plans to restore the 1920s-era Villa Park Elementary School to Orange Unified School District trustees tonight.

The dilapidated buildings on the site of the current elementary school were almost scheduled to be bulldozed last year, until the committee of residents formed to save it. District estimates have put restoration costs at more than $1 million, but the Villa Park Elementary School Restoration Corp. says it can do it for less. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at district headquarters, 1401 N. Handy St. For information on the restoration committee, call (714) 997-9288.
