El Al to Hand Over Papers in ’92 Crash

Israel’s El Al airline said it will give Dutch authorities long-sought documents that will clear it of any allegations of a cover-up in the 1992 crash of a cargo plane in Amsterdam. El Al said it has taken possession of most of the documents regarding the plane’s 20-ton shipment and will turn them over to a Dutch inquiry at The Hague next week. Revelations last year that the cargo included the chemical DMMP, which can be used to make sarin nerve gas, have strained ties between the Netherlands and Israel, and shattered confidence in the authorities.
